Citroën has added two hydraulic stops - one for rebound and one for compression - for the suspension to be able to adapt to input from the road surface.

Slight compression and rebound
The springs and shock absorbers work together to control vertical movement without the hydraulic stops. However, these stops endow the spring/shock absorber with greater freedom of movement to deliver a "flying carpet" effect, creating the impression that the car is flying over any bumps and dips in the road

Significant compression and rebound
The springs and shock absorbers work with the two hydraulic compression and rebound stops, gradually slowing down the movement to avoid sudden jolts at the end of travel. Unlike a conventional mechanical stop, which absorbs the energy then partially returns it, the hydraulic stop absorbs and dissipates the energy. As a result, there is no rebound.
