I get teary-eyes every time I hear this song.  It takes me back to a much simpler time in the 70's when I had my own Susie Darlin'.  She was all the world to me and I loved her so.  How I long to be able to go back to that.

I was lucky enough to be there when rock and roll was born. I have listened to it until it lost its way. This song is the best I have ever heard. Everything about it it right. Its simplicity makes it something you never get tired of listening to. He still sounds good!

I was 12 when he recorded this song.  For the next few years, guys would always call me Susiedarlin since my name was Sue.  It was that song and also Wake up Little Susie by the Everly Brothers.  Loved it!

WOW. ROBIN is still performing ...awesome! I saw him at Iao Theater at one of Tom Moffats in 1959...Shower of Stars live concert..I think...it was '59, maybe also bought the 45 RPM at Music Sales down the road from the back such fun memories of a gangly goofy bucktoothed teenager sitting in the lodge seats.

Susie Darlin was written by Robin Luke, About his 5 year old sister Susie in 1958. Susie is alive and well and She is married with 2 children and is living in Missouri.

Yes, of course, you are right, and I did not mean to disparage anything. It's just that I am very familiar with (now) Dr. Luke's youthful, 1958 performances of his now legendary song. Gosh, I remember that song so well.  Since I am a "Susie", I had lots of guys singing it to me lol.  Amazing that this was the only song Robin Luke ever recorded - did it on a lark when he was in college (or at least that is what I heard).   And still popular after all these years.
