Some users who upgraded to Windows 10 are finding out that their Start Menu does not open or Start Button is not working. If you are facing this issue, here are a few troubleshooting steps you may want to try out.

Open an PowerShell window type the following and press Enter:

To open an PowerShell prompt, type PowerShellp in taskbar Search, and in the result ‘Windows Powershell’ which appears, right-click and select Run as administrator.

So in the video on how to fix the start menu... you show yourself opening the powershell from the start menu. Well done.

That script fixed both issues. The cut/paste into PowerShell created an extra "-" just inside the last bracket and gave beau-coup errors, removed the - and off it went. Thank you. Life just made easier.

First off all... why don't he show at start of this video, that the Windos Start was not really working? Showing that it works after the execution of the Get_-App.... does not means that it fixed anything... do not trust everthing you see on youtube.

If you can't open Powershell with your search bar, you can go to task manager (ctrl+shift+esc), then click file and click "Run New Task" (make sure that you should enable "Create this task with administrative privileges."). Then search for "Powershell" on the box, and then type the code written down the description for this video. Hope this helped.

oh yeah for all u guys who still cant get it working, i did it differently, right click on the (search the web and windows button/search windows button) click on properties, if any of the boxes are ticked, untick them and in the Navigation tab untick that box if ticked, then click apply, then ok, then it should be able to open, or if it still doesnt work quickly restart ur computer and log back on, and it should be fixed! - please notify me if that didn't work for you !

whenever i type in the copy/paste part i get a lot of error messages starting with "Add-AppxPackage : Cannot find path so when yours turns yellow; mine turns red.

-Select COMMAND PROMPT (ADMIN)

-In the window that opens type:
sfc/scannow

-Click ENTER
-Wait for itto get to 100% completion
-If successful it will give the message that errors were found and repaired.

I can't find a single video to solve my problem's. My folders wont open up, I can't get to MS Paint, and my start and taskbar wont work. So I had to redownload everything add it to my taskbar. Also the only option to try and get MS Paint back is Add to Start, but it never adds it to Start. I keep restarting my laptop but nothing happens.
