I think it's sad that so many comments seem to be interpreting the cloud as like toxic or mentally ill or whatever, like, he isn't doing something bad, he's creating babies for the crocodile families etc; someone has to do it, and the fact that he's able to delight in them even though they aren't traditionally soft and cute is lovely. Sometimes the road less walked is difficult, but it doesn't make it any less wonderful for this stork to complete a family, in this example. I am also reading too far into this, but like, I feel like immediately jumping to toxic etc is a shame. Sometimes in life things are just hard. And if you are seeing yourself in the cloud, feeling different or mentally ill, you needn't write it off as a bad thing, because again the thing he is doing is very good and necessary is what I want to say, I guess. (Also I don't see what's wrong with him getting upset when his buddy seems to be leaving, like damn, he didn't lash out at anyone or try to force the stork to come back, people/clouds can have feelings without it being toxic).

Gus is doing the job that none of the other clouds seem to want to do, give the dangerous animals babies. Respect for that cloud ✊ and Peck for standing by his friend through it all.

Its not that their friendship was toxic but its just that they know that it was their task to deliver offsprings for dangerous creatures. The stork doesn't hate his friends but is just tired and trying to find a way to handle his task without injuries. The stork doesn't mind how dangerous the offsprings he's gonna deliver since we can see him still coming back to deliver, since like all the storks, he loves his job of helping creatures build their families especially that his was to help unusual ones which makes his role even more special

My interpretation of this is that some people, even with good hearts, have problems that makes it hard for some to love or appreciate them. The storm cloud makes the babies for dangerous animals and the stork gets hurt helping him and it’s difficult for him. The storm cloud doesn’t take the stork for granted and clearly loves and cares about him, which to the stork makes it all worth while despite how hard it is. When the cloud thinks the stork left him it’s heartbreaking to him and he starts crying, but when he comes back he has nothing but joy to see his friend again and the stork, despite how much he got hurt helping the storm cloud, knew it wasn’t ever his fault or intent and won’t abandon his friend. It’s really beautiful honestly.

I'm watching this after a breakup, I know it's not about a romantic relationship but I'm still crying like a baby. I wish things like this really did happen, but most of the time when people leave they're just gone, and you cry and get over it.

This short was played in the cinema before I watched UP. I can't even remember UP because all I could think about was this short. It's awesome. Got me right in the feels, that was at least 15 years ago and I still think about this short all the time!

When I was younger, I thought the dark cloud was being selfish and thoughtless. But after a few years I realize this can be a metaphor for someone suffering or going through a hard time. They are more difficult to love, but a loyal friend never gives up on them, instead encourages them and learns how to uplift them. In time, the dark cloud becomes a happy cloud :)

I have a sibling who is 6 years younger than me. So when he was little, we used to watch this together all the time, it was one of his favourites. And I told him this is how babies are made and for a very long time he thought this is how we got him 😂
