when casimero was considered not as successful as morata

Ooof the morata claim did not age well. If anything, time has shown Mourinho was right that Morata was not mentally prepared for a starting role

Crazy watching this in 2020. Fabinho/Casemiro probably the two most successful Mourinho debutants now.

Coming back to this...Casemiro is the pinnacle of criminally underrated by you guys

Alvaro Morata played full 90 minutes against Barcelona in 02/03/2013 under José Mourinho. I think Casemiro is elite now, best DM in the world.

Usually, when teams get Mourinho, they seek to win NOW.
You can't win NOW with youth.
Take Van Gaal Ajax golden generation out, that even Mourinho would promote as the talent was immense and obviously better than anything they could afford, how successful has he been with the youth friendly approach?
Mourinho with this United limited team has been using a few very young players too.
It's mostly about availability of resources. If you play with Real, you can't waste time in building players as you can literally get top talent at their peak for every position.
If you play with this current United, things are different.

What about Ricardo Carvalho? Arguably the best center back in portuguese history, he was brought in Porto's starting team by Mourinho.

Mourinho has his faults on youth development but you can't blame him. He's a perfectionist and to win you need mature players. Plus, if the youth player is hard working I don't think anything will stand in his way. Plus, after the class of 92, Sir Alex promoted a lot of youngsters but almost none of them made as much impact as the former did. Also, in 2011 when United faced a lot of injuries, he called Scholes out of retirement instead of giving more game time to less known youngster known as Paul Pogba. So I feel that it's really difficult to promote youth players unless there's an injury crisis! BTW nice videos mate.

LVG in his United stint played youth almost exclusively due to injuries. We would never have seen Rashford if Rooney, Fellaini etc were fit and he even tried to bring back a loaned striker Keane before playing Rashford, before Keane also got injured.
Fosu was not used nearly enough considering how many injuries (also down to LVG as Jose's good record shows) we had.

It can also be argued that LVG managed teams with the most established and prestigious academy talents ever produced where as Mourinho has worked largely ay clubs that want instant results and haven't produced streams of talent like Xavi, Alaba, Seedorf, Puyol, Inieta etc.

This channel is pure gold. I can't believe it has only 40k subs. Deserves at least 10x that. Good work. Keep it up!

Ever since the come from behind win vs. Crystal Palace I am convinced Sir Alex and Mourinho had a long talk about what it really meant to be a manager for United. His sideline demeanor, press response, results, and yes promotion of homegrown players in league cup games.

I haven't watched too many of your videos but I agree with most comments I've seen, in that they are generally impressive. They are informative and the style of production is slick and easy on the eye. However, with regards to the points made in this video... It's quite unbelievable how some people insist on giving Van Gaal credit for "promoting" so many youth players during his time at Manchester United. You did touch on this in the video, but it is patently obvious that this was due to excessive injuries to a completely unbalanced squad which was the product of a utterly embarrassing transfer window where ~5 attacking players were either sold or loaned (Van Persie, Di Maria, Falcao, Chicharito, Nani, James WIlson etc) one brought in (Matial) and the poor defence not strengthened. (This is referring to the 15/16 season). As for starting youth at Real Madrid... I don't think there has been a club who have consistently, over the last 20 years, been the epitome of the 'enemy of youth' (to coin your phrase) than Real Madrid. Galacticos versions 1 and 2? To be fair, they have slightly changed their philosophy over the last 1/2 years but predominantly all they did was splash the cash on the best players in the world. Furthermore, when bringing through youth, there has to be an understanding that players will take time to mature and reach their potential which is reflected by the clubs success. I.e. you bring through youth for long term success at the expense of short term success. That is simply not an option at Real Madrid. In fact, time is something which is rarely afforded to manager's when they are in charge of the biggest clubs. Instant success is expected. Therefore to criticise Mourinho for his youth policy at Real Madrid and make that the basis for your argument shows how facile the general argument is. Ultimately, youth players are promoted when they are good enough, simple as that. Again, there is this obsession with and constant espousal of playing youth without understanding that they have to be good enough first! Of course, they need to be given the chance to prove their worth and to grow as players, but the crop of youngsters that came through Man Utd's academy and La Masia is an incredibly rare occurence and which can't be repeated in every generation.
