Saying Goodbye to My Flat Piercing

I've been thinking about some of the piercings I currently have and how I feel about them at this time. My flat piercing previously caused me issues, but has been fine recently. Even though it's a perfectly fine piercing, I've decided I know longer want it. So...in this video, I share the moment I take the jewelry out of it for the last time. What piercings have you retired?

There’s pros and cons to tattoos versus piercings to me, but the main factor of saving piercings despite them being angry most of the time is the cost poured into it. 😭

I just retired my conch after nearly a year and a half. It simply never, ever healed. My flat, on the other hand, has been a dream. It took me so long to get to that point of saying goodbye. After all, there’s a lot of pride when you know you’ve been taking good care of it and sometimes you feel like if you could just have one week where it’s not a problem it will all be worth it. That never happened and I was so relieved after taking it out. At any rate, I do hope to get it re-pierced someday.

rip fallen soldier. for me i probably would've retired my vertical labret had it not fallen out on its own during the beginning of the pandemic, not because i didn't like it, but because it made it uncomfortable to brush my teeth lol. i also retired my nostril piercing because washing my face with it annoyed me and i wasn't 100% happy with the placement. being slightly inconvenienced by a piercing is tolerable for a while, but there's no reason to hold onto things that don't serve you or bring you joy anymore, in my opinion.

I get rid of piercings all the time. Like you said, you can always do them again or get something else. I will always love my septum and nose piercings though. I also went from 22mm to 14mm when it comes to my ears and I loved it. I will always love piercings, but I am more into tattoos right know, working on covering my entire body.

The only piercing I don't have anymore is my second lobe on my right ear, which accidentally closed because I don't really wear jewelry in my lobes all the time like I do with my cartilage piercings. I have plans to get it repierced eventually. I don't plan on getting rid of any of my piercings, but I totally understand where you're coming from. I just got my flat and helix done and once they heal I'm connecting them with a chain! I'm really excited. I also have my industrial and conch. My industrial is my favorite one and I will probably never take it out because it was super painful getting it pierced, so I doubt I'd want to repierce it. I've been really enjoying my piercing journey so far! I love your videos!

I retired my lobe piercings but they never fully closed up, and just recently I decided to stretch my lobes and open up one more lobe piercing while I was at it.
You can always either open piercings up again or get them redone, like you said.

Goodbye, flat piercing!

I tried to retire my navel piercing, but I guess I had it too long (nearly 20 years) and my body healed it really well because after over a year it had no signs of closing. I also started to noticed dead skin cell buildup sometimes when I would clean the area. So I gave in and put a piece of simple jewelry in. It's much happier and I don't mind having it.

completely random thought - it looked like the post on your flat was too long, I'm assuming that it was healed. I've heard that once a flat is healed that you need a much shorter post.

I have a septum and double left nostril piercing. I got my right nostril pierced too. While it was still healing, the jewelry accidently came out. I tried putting it back in, but within five minutes it refused to go back (a coworker tried too). Having decided that four nose piercings was one too many, I let that one go. I also had a left forward helix that was not done correctly, so I took it out. I later got a triple forward helix in that ear instead (and love it!).BTW I have quite a few tattoos too. I would be cover, if they weren't so darn pricey, lol

I just retired my flat and conch piercings. I didn’t feel connected to them anymore as well.

Yay! Excited you’re finally able to get the nostril done again. Did your piercer say anything about having a hole right next to one previously done? Would it even matter I guess as long as it’s fully healed? I have my lobes stretched so the second lobe piercing I have is too close and the piercer (Claire’s! I know, I wouldn’t go there if I could do it again 😭) did an awful job lining them up. I would love to have a second one done but in the right place and done by an actual professional. Not sure about the new hole being so close to the previous one though 🧐

I'm 25 and I'm getting my nostril done like once a year and take it out after few weeks, I'm getting bored of it very quickly haha.

I’ve had to remove in total 5 of my 10 piercings over the past 7 months. I removed my rook, double helix, conch, and septum. None of them would fully heal. Given I didn’t go to a very good shop for any of those and to add onto it I’m a side sleeper. I finally got fed up with them and took them out. I’m currently trying to reduce my scaring from them and toying with the idea of getting two new ones.

I had to retire my tongue piercing after almost 18 years due to surgery. I also removed my navel piercing at that time, but 2 weeks after the surgery I reinserted it. It was pierced in 2004, so the hole didn’t close. I since bought shorter jewelry for it, so it looks better now.

I got my daith done a week ago along with my tragus. My tragus needed to come out after a few days because I had a reaction to the stainless steel. My daith is surgical steel and I’m itching so bad! Had the same issue with my helix years ago.

I want a fourth lobe, and mid helix. And want my tragus re done. But at this point I’m thinking maybe the fake helix piercings may be the way to go 😭

You could get your industrial….so I’ve been toying with the idea of retiring my double helix. It gives me a lot of issues. We’ve tried all kinds of things and even switched the jewelry out. It doesn’t like anything I put in it. But then I think about everything we’ve ever been through and I just can’t give up. (Matter of fact, yesterday the same thing happened to it that happened to yours when you went to that concert. Totally fine now and about to do a sea salt soak on it.) It’s 7 months old and I guess it’s gonna take a full year to heal. My other ear has a conch and a flat that are 4 months old and it’s perfect. Never flares up and looks amazing. My left ear double helix constantly looks like crap.

I had to take out all of my piercings for a procedure I had done. I was only able to get my facial piercings and my 6 lobe piercings back. I would love to have my conch and tragus piercings back, but I am afraid of having to take them out again.

I took my helix piercings out recently. Just got bored of them and there weren’t many good jewellery choices for them as they were right on the ridge of my ear.
I am considering flats instead as there’s more space for fun jewellery

I had gotten several piercings done twice such as nostril, medusa, snake bites, conch, nipps and a few helix piercings done over a few times.. just recently i had to take out my facial piercings for a surgery and i managed to get my medusa put back in but my snake bites closed up over night and i had them in for 12 years and i miss them so much
