The "Four-on-the-Floor"-Beat is a stylistic device which has influenced many different genres of music, from Jazz over Disco to Rock and Metal. In this video, I want to explain this rhythm shortly and clearly and also show you how to implement it on the drums in a tasteful manner.

It's a good video Andy but I'm curious when drumbeats started to drop the swing eighth note in favor of the straight beat like you play at 5:00. What was the reason for them dropping the swing eighth? You can hear it clearly on songs like "Please Please Me" by The Beatles - by that time it was a straight Rock beat, but where did it come from? (Since up until then music used swing beats like in Rockabilly, Swing, and race music.)
