I always recommend to flick directly off the side of the board instead of your typical kickflip flick

I got some critiques. This method will be very difficult to ride straight down a stair set or gap. A lot of tutorials on like nollie flips have the same issues. Rather than think of the front foot as “getting out of the way” put your front foot back farther toward your back foot and in more like a heel flip than a kick flip (not so far you’re actually heel flipping but nice and square in the middle of the board. Toes touching the frontside edge on your front foot but no more. And your back foot keep in the same spot you’d tap an Ollie. You want your back foot on the very center tip of the tail. Very lightly smack the tail and already be jumping and it’ll pop vertical and rather than “getting your foot out of the way” it will curl vertically into your front foot that was positioned to force the flip without any work. Think of it like the tail becomes the nose after completely flipping and having your front foot back farther allows your front foot to be up higher post rotation and that’s the magic of the front foot catch hard flip. This will make hardflips pop higher catch sooner all while heading straight toward your landing :)

It’s literally the opposite of an inward heel, I put my toes on the heel Sid e of the tail for that, it’s easier to release on the flick
