My favorite TV match of all time. I still go back to watch it regularly, it’s like the ultimate comfort wrestling to me 😂

King sold that insane superkick perfect as well on commentary .. that whole sequence never left my mind as a fan. Its great to hear shelton validate the memories it locked in and that was his goal. Mega win.

crazy to me how for over a decade now, every person you see comment on Shelton whether a fan or a wrestler, agrees Shelton is an underrated great who never got the main event push he should have. and yet he’s continued to be under utilized by WWE almost every moment he’s been there

if the knock all this time was his mic ability, SAME FOR LESNAR but they found a way to work around that didn’t they

People forget that Shawn can mat wrestle when he’s in there with an athlete or technician (Angle, Bret, Shelton) but only does it when he can make his opponent shine even brighter.

I wish they had more matches, they had amazing chemistry in the ring.

Between that super kick and the ladder run up, Shelton has arguably, 2 of the best 10 spots in wrestling for at least the last 25 years.

JR commentary was the cherry on top: “Oh my God in Heaven”

Man, Shelton was so underutilized. With all the moments he created, he could've had SO many more if WWE just gave him some more big opportunities. Should've been a main eventer.

man, shelton still looks great and in good shape. when people talk about veterans that are still wrestling, they always mention randy orton, rey mysterio, natalya, kofi, bobby lashley, brock lesnar, and sheamus. but they rarely mention shelton benjamin when he has been in the company longer than most of the ones being mentioned, and have stayed in the business every year and not rest a year or two and then come back like most of the other veterans. it's also sad that he was never pushed since he debuted. the only time he got pushed was when he joined the hurt business, and we all know how that ended.

That spot is very memorable for me as a kid. First time seeing that kind of spot and I was a big Michaels fan back then, I even had my old Nokia phone with me ready when Shawn is about to do the SCM. I did not got that one because it is really out of nowhere. Was able to record it from the replays though. Everything in the spot is gold, Lawler and JRs commentary, the setup, the unpredictability of who will win that gold rush tournament, the camera angle, the timing of the kick. Even the guy dressed as Hogan is gold. Great memory.

I'll never forget that moment. That was one of those moments in wrestling history where you remember exactly where you were when it happened. I was sitting in my college dorm watching Raw and as soon as that superkick happened, I yelled to my roommate in the other room that he's GOTTA come see this replay!

The single greatest spot of all time. I saw it live, and I CANNOT forget it even if I tried.
