I was expecting this for a long time. I have both Mac and Windows laptop and the lack of these shortcuts was holding me back from switching to Mac completely.

Microsoft knows that many people are in this situation like me. That's why they didn't introduce this before.

I too couldn't get KeyTips to work and even downloaded Windows on my Mac. But then I found a solution. First make sure you are on beta, and update to newest version of excel as explained in the video. Then, the solution lies in going to preferences in excel, pressing accessibility and then enabling KeyTips. You're welcome.

The option key does bring out the number to select from the ribbon

First of all this guy did not mention this only works on a Beta version of Excel. 1. Help > Check for Updates > Advanced and select the Beta Channel. 2. Excel > Preferences > Accessibility > Activation Keystroke > Option Key. Doing 2. without being on Beta will not work. Now it works for me finally.

Looks great but do you know why my option key won't do that in Excel? I just got 365 Mac version and it doesn't have the other choices after view- Automate etc.either. Checked all my updates on Mac and 365, all current . Thanks!

Am interested in learning more about customizing keyboard shortcuts. But why would you use shortcuts to insert a table instead of control T for example? Is custom shortcuts in Windows? I am a long time Excel Windows user, but more and more, am going to Excel for web.

Gotta figure they'll keep adding to the beta release list of shortcuts...I'm surprised ol' faithful (alt HOI) is missing initially. 🤷

keytips previously is working but now it just typing alt characters in my excel

ALT is overloaded. It is also used for things like moving columns and rows and such. I don't know how many times I've tried to do the latter only to find those keytips options lit up. It requires amazing physical dexterity to stay out of trouble in Excel. I generally prefer the much more limited UI of Google Pages.
