@17:23 I used to go out of my way to see that view. I love the Raleigh skyline.

If you like Cook out, you should try chargrill if you ever go back to Raleigh.

The hoods have been gentrified like crazy. Growing up there it was Chavis Heights (where I'm from), Apollo Heights, Biltmore Hills, Walnut Terrace and a few spots off Capital. They tore all the projects down about 15 years ago and flipped the city for the most part. The further south you go it still gets hood but nothing like how it was back when. Over by New Bern, Poole Rd, and a little bit of MLK it still needs some cleaning but it ain't the Ruff Raleigh it used to be. Most of that is now in Durham. It's funny cuz the part where you pointed out the hood is not too far from where my projects used to be

Seedy parts of raleigh... cross creek, garner road, mlk/poole/nba..s bloodworth, south east st, mangums ave, quarry st, s state st, coleman st, s bragg near the shell you were at. But still pretty safe if u stay out the way. I heard it was rougher in the 80s and 90s but they tore down all the projects in the 90s/2000s.

Good video, showing a real tour of downtown. Seems pretty chill.

Most of Raleigh is quiet, happily boringly quiet. Some areas have far more incidents than others -like well everywhere. And the numbers are public info.

Raleigh is very safe, especially for a city its size. I spent five years there and I still go back periodically and I never ever felt unsafe walking there. That is unless you go to the south east side, especially Newbern Avenue. I am completely blind and are used to walk down Hillsboro Streetreet by myself every now and again. I would walk to the store all the time. The homeless people don’t even bother you.

Just visited and was really impressed by Raleigh and surrounding areas. Didn't have a bad beer or meal all week

Raleigh's statistically one of the safer larger cities in the country.

Raleigh has always been a decent city in my opinion I grew up there I like it alot i will say this back in the day it was rougher then it is now alot more abandoned houses and teenagers standing by stores with there pants sagging now alot of those areas have been gentrified but there are still a few areas here and there in the city that are like that

This was thrilling to see! I lived in Raleigh from 1995 to 2011. It's pretty darn safe. I used to ride my bicycle around late at night, but there's definitely safety in numbers. Next time go to Chargrill, not Cookout. When I left, it was hipsters to the West, hood to the East (being gentrified), yuppies to the North (from up North), and country to the South. It has totally blossomed into a major city since the 90s. Check out Lake Johnson and Cup A Joe.

straight where you were going by the cookout on tarboro is the “bad” side of town. along poole road, new bern sort of eastern raleigh. in hindsight it’s really not that bad of an area just use caution and don’t be dumb. other than that driving through that area is fine. if waves down your car or stands in front if it. also if you’re in raleigh again check out the alamo movie theatre. best place to go at night and rlly good food considering it being a movie theatre.

fyi: if you happen to visit charlotte in this lil trip, the hood is everything north of uptown until you get to the suburbs north of the 485. if u wanna visit trendy areas i recommend uptown, south end, plaza mid wood, and south park. the hood is technically north/west charlotte. the melting pot is east charlotte (lots of amazing latin food) south charlotte and ballantyne are the richer areas.

Raleigh's a dope town. NC, like VA is the South, but not the deep South, so it's not as Black and White than lots of other southern states

I’ve been all over North Carolina, including Raleigh and Charlotte. Statistically, is Raleigh much safer and cleaner than Baltimore?
