Lyrics:

Verse:
Well, you were the aftermath
Of every judgment
So cold by the sweat that
You’ll waste away
And you carry your enemies
But they’re so familiar
I’m sick of the company
So I cull the shame

Chorus:
And I know you’ll say how I’m a burden
Yeah, do your worst, all at once
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking
And it’s not the voice of all the others
You’ve only said it to yourself
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking
Narrator: (They come to feel like things we’re saying to ourselves.)

Verse:
An inch from my ears again:
“You should be sorry,”
A solemn man:
“A better song could fix my problems”
I’m tired of your questioning
You’re cut down too easily
And I don’t know what’s good for me
I can’t decide

Chorus:
And I know you’ll say how I’m a burden
Yeah, do your worst, all at once
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking
And though they sound like one another
You’ve only said it to yourself
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking
Narrator: “Now these voices have become our own.”

Verse:
An inch from my ears again:
“You should be sorry,”
A solemn man:
“A better song could fix my problems”
I’m tired of your questioning
You’re cut down too easily
And I don’t know what’s good for me
I can’t decide

Chorus:
And I know you’ll say how I’m a burden
Yeah, do your worst, all at once
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking
And it’s not the voice of all the others
You’ve only said it to yourself
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking
And I know you’ll say how I’m a burden
Yeah, do your worst, all at once
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking
And though they sound like one another
You’ve only said it to yourself
I know what you want from me (from me)
I know what you’re thinking

Narrator:
Sometimes, the inner voice is encouraging: Calling for you to run those final few yards;
You’re nearly there, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going. It will all be OK in
the end.

the end where he looks like hes struggling when she says "keep going" and then he looks up super determinedly when she says "it will all be okay in the end" is SO sweet

Kudos to the cameraman for not getting distracted by the weird crayon-like things that keep appearing in his way

"Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. It will all be okay in the end."
These final lines in the video made me tear up cause no one ever said that to me. Thank you so much Porter for this beautiful music video and the inspirational message.

I'm sure everyone has that one feeling/memory that Porter Robinson's music invokes, even if his music wasn't actually present for that particular event. (BTW the feeling is called anemoia, it's a nostalgic feeling for an event you never experienced.) But for me Porter's music always took me back to the vacations I took with my family as a kid. Not the parts of vacation that were, seas-side fun, partying, and whatnot. But the more quiet, liminal parts of a vacation. Getting up in the morning at 4am, and half dozing in the car on the way to the airport. Getting to the airport and wandering this massive building stuffed with people, and looking out the windows to see it's still dark out. strolling on the beachside boardwalk past sunset, as the lights on all the shops and houses start to come on. resting in the hotel room, and wandering the dozens of identical halls. Going for a late-night swim. All these moments that just felt so secret, so quiet and intimate, and personal. They carried a sort of mystical, dreamlike feeling for me, I felt completely safe in this strange alien world of twilight and dark. Knowing that something or someone was looking over me, even though I was miles away from home. That's how Porter's music makes me feel. And the craziest part is, I ONLY JUST DISCOVERED HIS MUSIC A FEW MONTHS AGO!! but somehow it takes me right back to those moments. It's bizarre, and it's beautiful

I love the merging of different realities in this. I also go on trails a lot to work through my thoughts, and I just really got what this was portraying. Love it so much.

2012 Language: “I'll be okay” (individual, personal, exclusive).
2020 Mirror: “It will all be okay in the end” (collective, empathetic, inclusive).
I think Porter grew within an 8 year span for him to pass down what he experienced through sadness/depression over the years. Also, I think the connection between the 2 songs is to have a daily self-reflection in the mirror while saying a positive mantra in order to start the healing process. The mantra is it’s own language that speaks deeply to your conscious. Thank you, Porter♥️

Can we talk about how adorable the smile is at the end

As someone with anxiety, this song is exactly what it feels like living with it. It's always fighting with yourself and reminding yourself you're good enough. So to hear that line at the end saying, "It will all be okay in the end, " gives me hope that maybe I'm not as bad as my brain tells me I am.

I love the lyrical content of this song, it's not the typical "I'm in a toxic relationship" or "I'm in depression" song that I've heard so much in the industry. I think we all need messages like this, to help us put aside that pessimistic side that we fear that prevents us from doing what makes us happy.

it's wednesday sept 9th. it's 2:34pm. i'm trying to get back to editing. but i can't get this video out of my head. how pretty it is, how each individual piece was put together. the people who helped you realize your vision...Shun, Hota, Brian, Adam.. they are very, very talented.

Just saw him play this live and the best part was at the end! After the robotic voice says, "Keep going keep going and it'll all be OK in the end" it follows it up with, "and if it's not OK, then that just means it's not the end"

On September 8th, 2020 I could have easily lost my life. I dozed off while driving and ended up hitting a tree head on in the air going about 60mph. I swerved out of oncoming traffic and miraculously no one else was hurt. My car? Totaled. My Physical well being? somehow I only made it out with scrapes and bruises. I've been questioning my mentality. About halfway through that crash I really accepted that I was about to die. Right there. 19 years old. This is exactly what I needed to hear. "Keep going keep going keep going" because I realize I was given another chance. Thank you for your music Porter... it's really helped me. Whatever music you make, I'll be with you every step of the way.

4:59 - "you're nearly there. keep going. keep going. keep going. it'll all be okay in the end"
man, I needed to hear that more than I realised.

I actually have no idea how to describe what I just watched. Having a repeating picture follow you through the woods is some creepypasta stuff, but its animated in a captivating way with other wonderful augmenting animations. This man is redefining music interacting with video

I really like how Porter dropped this music video the day right before World Suicide Prevention Day. The mantra at the end, “Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. It will all be okay in the end” is the hopeful mantra for those who are in need💚
