Hey Wes, something to note about Yarick. The man actually engages in psychological warfare with the orks, using their beliefs against them. For instance, when he heard that the orks think a single glare from him can kill, he had that robotic eye of his made to fire lazers. He speaks ork, and will frequently use their own language to insult and goad them, like a Warboss would.
Ghazghkull Thrakka is even quoted saying "All humies are weak cowards, except Fer One Eye Yarick. He knows how ter fight"

In the old Canon Yarrik headbutted the war boss into submission before killing him and in orc society headbutting contests are the traditional way to challenge a higher ranking ork for his authority so the instant Yarrik won that confrontation the way he did every single ork that was nearby assumed he was the biggest, baddest git in that battle and ork magic did the rest.
Its also the moment Gork and Mork recognized him as being "orky" because not only did he defeat a pretty powerful ork in the most orky way possible he then proceeded to loot the weapons of his adversary and asked for more krumpin. No human before or after behaved so quintessentially orky intentionally or not.

He is the only human military personal/commander that has a permission to retire and live in a pleasure world in his retirement life in 40k but, he refused his retirement after the battle of armageddon because he thought his only purpose in life is fight and defeat Ghazgoul thraka the prophet of the Orkz

Btw, Gazghul spoke to Yarrick in high Gothic (the language of imperials.) One of the only times he's shown any fear was when he reflected on it. Orks don't speak Gothic, and one that can means the orks may be regaining some of their old power.

It’s one thing to have an ork dance and laugh at your grave even if you were a space marine but it’s another thing to be a six foot tall geriatric to earn any actual sense of respect from the orks nonetheless considering how they treat each other and their dead seeing them as nothing but walking wallets to loot if said ork suddenly dies.
