The virus that infects mankind with every sickness
We have a name for…

In the aftermath of the Theban civil war, the two sons of Oedipus, Eteocles and Polynices, are dead, in the act of fratricide, twice over. Their successor, Creon, is King, and he has decreed that the body of the traitor, Polynices, and those who stand to bury him, shall be punished by the state.

Outside the palace gates, a conspiracy is underway. As the daughter of Oedipus, Antigone is determined to defy the State and bury her brother, for the promise of the Gods blessing.

Written during the Athenian Plague of the 4th Century BCE, Sophocles’ epic Ancient Greek Tragedy, embodies the themes of State power, and the rites and ritual practices of death, in crises.

A Master of Design with Creative Practice at AUT, this research seeks design practices to maintain the aesthetics and ephemerality of Live Theatre during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
