WAIT... Remember Super Princess Peach?

Super Princess Peach was a Mario spin-off game that wanted to take the Mario formula and change it up a little bit, this time have Princess Peach be in the role of the hero who now has to save both Mario and Luigi from Bowser. In honor of the new Super Mario Bros. Movie in theaters, I thought it would be fun to look at another time Princess Peach was a leading hero figure. This is Super Princess Peach for the Nintendo DS.

Thanks so much for watching! Did you ever get a chance to play Super Princess Peach? Let me know your thoughts on the game and if it should get a sequel!

"Oh, it's a parasol."
"PERRY the Parasol?!"

I believe it’s needs a sequel or something. Give Peach the spotlight again.

It definitely seem like a super underrated experience. Even the biggest Nintendo Mario enthusiast don’t bring up this one. It’s the spin-offs where they go ham on doing something outside the box when it comes to Mario games.

I've always wanted a Super Princess Peach sequel, it was such a fun game with a neat twist on the Mario Franchise. I wish we got multiplayer one with Daisy, Rosalina, and Pauline

The best part of this game was when the game told people at the end that vibe wands exist in their parents' drawer, and people found wands.

Seems like one of those games that could be reintroduced to modern audiences on the Switch either through NSO or a remake.

The spritework is super nice. It sort of feels like what the Mario and Luigi series would be like as a conventional platformer.

Even though it’s on the easy side, it’s such a hidden gem. It’s got style, genuinely well hidden collectibles and surprisingly enough a fair bit of challenge in the post game. It’s also got a really good soundtrack, every song is a banger

Loved this game. Very underrated. Definitely needs a sequel.

Yeah no sequel of any kind is baffling. Also you're the first person looking at this game I've seen that doesn't just go "oh the girl has emotions as a game mechanic, WHAT CLOWN OKAYED THIS?!" And actually seemed to have paid attention and brought up the plot explaining that EVERYTHING has heightened emotions and that Peach just has hood control on hers to utilize.

So who’s coming back here after the announcement of a new peach game?

I played this game SO MUCH as a kid. I'm surprised it never got a sequel, it was so cozy and fun. I should replay it.

Super Princess Peach DESERVES a sequel. We still need to know more about Perry and why he was transformed into an umbrella.

I think it would have been nice if her victory fanfare in smash was the level clear from this game

I loved this game, it's one of my faves! I remember so much negative commentary on it when it came out, and I honestly did not mind that her "powers" were based off of her emotions. I was kind of like, okay, cool, way to take some sort of "stereotypical" thing that people say is always a woman's weakness and make it her strength (and like you said, in control of them!). I'd love another Super Princess Peach game in the future. She deserves it!

The emotional scar which never getting the happy ending to Perry's tragic story left in my heart as a child is still hurting to this day

Also, while I totally understand and do agree with the criticism of Peach's game mechanic as heroine being *emotion* based is obviously rooted in sexism, I have to say that I remember that as a little girl one of the main reasons why I liked Peach's characterisation in this game WAS because of it being emotion-based.

Cause normally I knew Princess Peach as a soft-spoken and introverted person who has this royal distance and calmness to herself which I totally understood as THAT as a child. For me that was Peach's character and personality and I perfectly understood that her royal status/job is important and big enough that it would always show in the way she presents herself.
So I genuinely liked this game as a little girl because Peach was for once the one going on the adventure and I saw the emotion-based game mechanic as a great chance for her to be able to openly express herself. I mean it, I was legitimately HAPPY for her as little girl and therefore enjoyed playing the game so much. I liked seeing Peach expressing all these different emotions on screens (especially the lower one) because I knew from her regular characterisation and "life" that she doesn't get to do that very often as Princess.

I know this is a very naive take on the emotion-based mechanic criticism, which genuinely is valid because it's a sexist stereotyp merely executed _very well_ ... but I can't help it. I was just so HAPPY for her and thought that was just what she needed x3

I remember playing the heck out of this game, so much fun. I also remember the one of the themes for Fury Volcano being an absolute banger.

This game used a updated visual design of the Yoshi Island series and seeing it again really makes me hope the next 2D Mario game has some sort of different art style
