Thank you for your insight. My two cents: Tajik is essentially a Farsi language. Not only Stalin renamed the language and enforced a Cyrillic alphabet, he also divided the Tajik land in such a way, to wipe out the roots /history of modern Tajik people. For example half of Uzbekistan's land, and the historical cities like Samarqand and Bukhara belonged to Tajiks.

Tajik, Persian, and Dari are all one and the same. Don't let foreigners put distance between us for their own selfish gains, dear fellow Persians.

Might sound a bit weird but I started learning Tajik since it is more familiar than Farsi thanks to cyrillic alphabet. Also it is an indo-european language that is connected to the very rich history of the Persian Empire and epic stories of Rostam that I want to understand. Baby steps at the time, but Tajik seems like a great gatway into Persian history and culture for a Western man (Croatian) like myself.

Hi nice to see this video about your beautiful language, One thing I would like to say, It would be great if you included ancient history of Tajik language. Definitely the country it self is thousands of years old, so is the language. Love from Australia. Likes and subscribed BTW.

There are so many varieties of Spanish - yet they`re all called Spanish. Arabic in Morocco is almost unintelligible to Arabic in Lebanon - yet Persian in Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan are all called by different names. Shows you the divide that exists.

East Iranian languages such as Pamiri and Sogdian are a different branch and quite interesting. It's most likely what ancient Silk Road merchants used throughout present-day Tajikistan to Tarim Basin. (Ancient Sogdian became Ancient Uyghur letters, and were later adopted by the Mongols and Manchus to record their languages. It's still taught today in places like Inner Mongolia.)

I'm not sure which century but the language of western Tajikistan was eventually replaced by Persian (Western Iranian). In the mountainous areas near Kashgar, there is a Tajik Autonomous Region where people still speak Pamiri. Most of Tarim Basin was Turkified by migrating Turkic tribes from Mongolia and later invasion by Central Asian Turks nearly 1, 000 years ago. But the most remote mountainous areas kept their original East Iranian language. Variations of Pamiri language survived in Northeast Afghanistan, Northern Pakistan as well.

Yeah, bravo! It’s exactly Persian language, would be better to mention it as a Persian tajiki, other it could miss lead people. Thanks and good luck.
