Before there was soil, sky or any green thing,
there was only the gaping abyss of Ginnungagap.

Frost from Niflheim and billowing flames from Muspelheim crept toward each other until they met in Ginnungagap.

Amid the hissing and sputtering, the fire melted the ice, and the drops formed themselves into Ymir

Ymir was life himself. Everything he did created new life. Even his death and decaying body brought life.

Tainted Grail bring me here. I was just listening in the main menu and my jaw just drop off. I couldn't stop listening, what a beauty.

Ymir, Odins Grandfather.
After Odin kill Ymir, our Earth was born.
Ymirs tears became rivers, his blod became the sea, his flesh became Earth, his hair and beard became the forest and his eyes became the very sky and Stars.

Love from Denmark 🇩🇰
Lovely to hear old nordic music. ❤️

Yesterday, my Dungeon Master died. He was a big fan of Norse mythology and wove it into every campaign. I have been listening to this song nonstop and thinking of him. Bless the singers. Bless the storytellers. Bless those who post and share songs like this.

Ginnungagap, Niflheim, Muspelheim.
Fire, ice, drops are falling.
Ymir, Jotun, creates the Aesir.

Ginnungagap, Niflheim, Muspelheim.
Fire, ice, drops are falling.
Ymir, Jotun, creates the Aesir.

Fire, ice, drops are falling.

Everyone’s talking about that first solo, but the later chant is really epic as well. Rather melancholic, sounds like it’s set to the drums of an army.

Damn, that first half with Gealdyr is really touching and emotional, soul crushing almost. I wish it was just that, a full length ballad with some strings in the back.

People: What kind of music do you like?
Me: it’s complicated.

Old was the age when Ymir lived
Of Ymir's flesh was the Earth made

Ginnungagap, Niflheim, Muspelheim
Fire, ice, drops are falling
Ymir, jotun, creates the Gods

The statue used for the picture actually stands in Florence, Italy, and is called Colosso dell’Appennino. It was build in the 16th century. Funny to see it here.

The opening vocals are just incredible. Danheim's chanting is flawless as always, but this one played automatically and that emotional, sombre crooning caught me completely off guard and did a little thing behind my heart.

While I am a child, I thought nothing can be as beautiful as the grassland, the totemic wolves and stories of my ancestors, after I grew up, Nordic culture shows me something equally beautiful as my homeland. They are so much difference, yet so much similar... I miss my home...

Man, the beginning solo is so beautiful. It feels incredibly tragic. And the part after it has a great rythm. I'm finding myself humming along. Great work!

My grandpa died last week. I wasn't a great grandson but I still loved him so much. Sometimes when I listened to music I would always show it to him . Now he is no more and I'm just here thinking of he would like it . What would his reaction be if he listened to this .

The vocals in the beginning of the song are beyond incredible. Unimaginably moving.

I just had a realization! In skyrim they say "Ysmir's beard" which is basically the same as "oh my God", but in Norse mythology the first being to ever exist, he who created the gods was named Ymir. By Ymir's beard.
