You need to stand inside the circle of the meteor for it to drop loot, it doesn't drop anything otherwise. You have a chance to get a star jelly from it too, so make sure to be efficient with your meteors. Also, you're using the scythe wand to collect pollen, it's more effective where red flowers dominate. Theres also a blue version of it which does the oposite, its effective on blue flowers. But I think you should aim to buy and use Porcelain Dipper from the top field right now, its pretty good in every field for how far you are in the game right now. Claim your dailies too, like glue in the gummy bee cave (you enter it by dropping a gummy bee while standing on it near the ants). Also pay attention to the loot that sprouts drop, you should focus on collecting jellies, tickets and other rare drops, it's also really easy to collect a lot of loot when you have the haste buff from your bees which makes you speedy.
