Actually no. Torture tests have been done, if you drop it from say 4 feet, it will not shatter, or crack. An edge may dent though.

Just a thought... is the window in the case completely cut out or is there like a plastic sheet to protect the front of the phone?

That is a good solution, I've thought about that too.
If the case had buttons it would feel like an old school phone crossing with an old school mp3 player/Ipod. but when u open it would be smartphone u could write notes on. I just like my idea :P
Call me lazy, but you would not even need to take out your pen, if you only need to call someone. I don't mean a buttons with letters, I don't think that would work, only numbers^^

The S case is a great idea but this rendition is ludicrous. Its a big red rectangular boxy camera/note taker. Yes I'm sure you can take calls/notifications as in the SGS4 but I think Samsung dropped the ball design wise. Btw I'm an Android user and Samsung fan.
