Machine learning, compilers, and why mathematicians make great software engineers

Abstract: We will start with a short introduction to compilers and machine learning, and what happens when the two areas meet. Then we consider what mathematics has to do with both, and why learning math can set you up to be a great software engineer. Finally, we discuss some tips for transitioning from academia to industry.
