You’re living the dream! I absolutely love Maine, I’m from Massachusetts but my dad’s from Maine and he’s taken us up to Maine to camp every year when we were growing up. I still go up to Maine, Hancock county, every summer for a couple weeks of camping and fishing and enjoy every second of it.

If your are going to pour 4 foot frost walls and pour a floor, go down 4 more feet and have a full cellar, you will enjoy the added space. When framing the roof, frame in the opening for a large dormer. You can just roof it over in 10 years when you want to make the loft bigger that work is already done and there will be some wood from the rafters to use. Easy for me to say as it is not my money. Haha. Something to ponder though.
