It's sad how despite Spawn's meaningful intentions, he didn't put enough thought into the repercussions of torturing their abusive father

The older kid, Eddie, grew up to be the Redeemer.

Spawn should've put the "I beat my kids" on his face too, Inglourious Bastards style.

Y'know I was actually hoping that Spawn affected Joe with a slight curse which would actually inflict HIM with the pain each time he struck the boys that way the kids wouldn't feel any pain at all and the father would then understand just how much (pain) HE was doing to them AND how it would happen is each area affected onto the child would actually be the same area where HE feels his own blows.

This sort of reminds me of when superman saved a kid from Thier abusive father. But superman actually stopped the abuse while yes spawn tried to help, it didn't seem to work

Video title: Spawn saves kid from abusive father
What ACTUALLY happens: Spawn did NOT save kid

This was fucking weird, if anything spawn made things worse and it was up to the older brother to kill his abusive father

Eddie is a big part of the modern spawn comics. He’s now the reaper. He was also the redeemer back in the day. Most recently, after the battle for hell, he’s become a hybrid vampire.

This is exactly why back then, Spawn, especially Todd McFarlane wasn't afraid to touch on heavy subjects, something that DC and Marvel wouldn't dare do, because of them stuck in the "Think Of The Children" narrative

Superman: Scares an abusive father straight
Spawn: Brands the abusive father with "I beat my kids" all over and the eldest son kills hisfather to protect his little brother.
Batman: Beats the shit out of the abusive father and sets him up to be arrested.
Wolverine: Beats the shit out of the abusive father and gives no shits on if the abusive shithead lives or dies.
Deadpool: Shoots the abusive father in the face with a well-aimed round, and takes the kids in himself to live a much happier life, or he drops them off to live with someone who he knows is far more qualified to take care of the kids.
Spider-man: Webs up the abusive father and hammers home the lesson that you can either be an abuser, or you can be abused by someone stronger than you, reminding the father he won't be so lenient the next time, and even leaves a permanent injury to remind the father not to be an abuser.
Venom: Bites the head off the abusive father because he is the lethal protector.

Every hero has their own take on how to deal with abusers.

Spawn's method didn't get the lesson hammered in enough. The abusive father should have been wracked with agony and left burned with the scars, and found in the gutter with being forced to take anger management classes until his violence against his kids was trained out of him.

Being an abusive narcissist behind the scenes while putting on a wholesome image for everyone else? Sounds like my father

Millions of kids being abused by their mothers will never have a story like this to give them a sense of hope, justice and redemption.
What a goddamn shame.

that was like the stupidest decision spawn had ever done

Love it when some hero or even anti-hero help a kid from their abusive dad

I've seen the abusive father trop depicted so many times throughout comics, movies, books, etc. But never in a way like this. You have to be a special kind of monster, not even worthy of the deepest pits of hell, to want to pull out your gun and put it to your kid's head, tell them its loaded and pull the trigger when it really isn't. Absolutely evil.

Sad how this is a very real situation where no Spawn exists.

It's like telling the teacher about your bully.

It just makes things worse.
