Показать описание
The M80 Stiletto employs modern technology to save life-cycle and construction costs while notably enhancing performance and capabilities. This ship was built by MS HIP CO as a navy ship prototype for the Department of Defense's operational experiment. Despite being only 88 feet long, the vessel operates like a much larger vessel despite having an exceptionally broad beam of 40 feet and a composite frame.
In support of the Navy's office of force modernization, the Stiletto was created for high-speed military missions in the littoral and near-shore waters. Its speed, ride quality, payload capacity, and support for unmanned vehicles are unmatched by any other hull.
In a little more than a year, the Stiletto was planned, built, and completed in order to demonstrate a novel hull form, its scalability, composite building, and a cutting-edge design/build technique.
The Stiletto is the largest vessel made of a cutting-edge composite material (carbon fiber) ever constructed for the U.S. government. The design's transition from experimental to operational status has been accelerated by its performance and capabilities.
The Stiletto was sent to Colombia to aid in the fight against narcotics in spite of not having been designed to be operational. During this mission, it made a quick drug interception in shallow water and hauled in 1,800 pounds of cocaine.
