Blind from birth, Rex Lewis-Clack -- soon also diagnosed with autism -- struggled with painful neurological reactions to sounds as a young child. When he discovered piano aged 2, he explains, “it all went away.” Called a genius and prodigious musical savant by experts by age 7, Lewis-Clack demonstrated an exceptional ability to perform intricate pieces after hearing them just once, among other rare talents. Rex has since used his extraordinary gift to found and lead a musical group, Rex & Friends, giving music therapy to people who are blind or have autism.

Why doesn't this have a quadrillion views? While I'm not even remotely as unfortunate as him, I do have severe anxiety and all medications I've tried just makes it worse. When I play piano or keyboard ... I get a total moment of rest from it. Music is incredible.

I like the way he broke up Beethoven’s 3rd movement of moonlight sonata, never heard it that way

Huh, weirdly enough literally every case of savant syndrome related to music that I've read about involves the child being born premature and/or blind.

That song at 2:39 is incredible. I looked for a cover but it might be an original. Anyone know it? Thanks!

The music rebalanced his brain; there are centers that do this type of therapy to help with everything from insomnia to autism.
