You have hit the nail on the head with this one I could not agree more. If ever there was a way to manipulate the market, this certainly would be one way of doing it. Another way of doing this is to have a friend do a" buy it now" - and then give the money back without anybody knowing(including eBay) sure there might be posting fees and taxes but it might be worth it if you're invested.

This is a great topic.. How about someone putting a book up and a buddy bids on it from eBay and no transaction happens and yet a book is now inflated.. Now how many of this happened this year from all the record sales is now a mystery isn't it

You bring a good point. Someone has to keep them honest. Appreciate the time and effort, thanks!

great content! I have sold MANY PSA graded cards for well above their listed recent sales data, and they do not post my sales data on their website. I have called PSA about this and they have told me that their bots do not pick up all sales data on all cards. but its funny because they only miss the ones that sell for higher than other reported sales. whenever I sell a card that is around what other comparable sell for, it is listed. very strange. that's why I do not take a lot of stock in comps on any of these sites. the data is wrong or off in a number of ways. you would think PSA would want to show the highest prices that there cards are bringing. market manipulation maybe????

It looks like GPA initially marks it as sold, but then if it non payed or relisted they remove it and put it at the very bottom of the page under relists errors. I agree that assuming every sold list will be legit is an issue.

Good video, my history in buying and selling is with ebay. I think it would be harder to do this with any real level of scale. If your using the same account and buying and not paying that will likely get you on the radar. This is another of example that most data is imperfect so should be used with caution.

That is an important issue to be aware of. I hope GPAnalysis corrects it soon. Good catch.

hi . I am not so sure about your claim and GPA website clearly states they account for what you are saying is an issue. See the 'cut/past' I took directly from their Website at GPA:

Re-lists, non-sales, errors.
GPA does the hard work of keeping track of sales that have fallen through so you don't have to. Book relisted? Buyer returned a book? Error sale? Fake listing? The sale is removed and added to a separate section for easy reference.

Thanks for this video, now I will prioritize GoCollect

Recently this summer I bought an X-men 1 on eBay and Go Collect recorded the sale even tough I had not paid yet for the comic. Also as a seller I sold a comic on eBay that the buyer never paid and the sale was recorded. I reached out to Go collect for them to remove the record. I think they did but not 100% sure.

I have had issues where I bought a book for best offer below full asking price but the collation sites have reported the sale at full price. Example seller offered a book for 3k but I bought it for $1900. The sale was reported for $3k.

Yes! I was about to say look at go collect also fmv is all over the place . Check out sandman 18. I have written to them twice. They have fmv for many books like this. How could non. Error version be valued for this book at 1700 for a 9.8 on one crazy sale. Also some sales under the error variant uses the same cgc number over and over . I've created two tickets and no word. I think they pump up certain books .

I wonder if they are starting to bring in information from sales on social media. Ive seen some big dollar books sell on some of these more prolific Instagram accounts. What about What Not sales?

No substitute for doing the research yourself on eBay and heritage. You can often see if a item was relisted if you go to its sold listing page looking at completed listings. Especially if you are buying!!! Don't blindly trust data collection sites they can be manipulated. Great vid David 👌

Not only is this a big problem with id of pay or not, but how do you know if seller shipped on not?

Dislike is from someone who owes $14, 599.00

Do either of the sites differentiate between a sale and a data point. I see this as a data point. Currently, it shows what someone might potentially pay for the comic. It could also make a potential buyer of the same issue and grade realize they are getting a bargain if they see one available for 12.5. I think you did say the information would be corrected if the sale was not finalized.

So annoying when buyers dont pay on Ebay. Such a waste of time for sellers and they get a slap on the wrist.

Off topic but it would be sweet if you could do a breakdown of ASM129 similar to what you did for hulk181 and gsx1

I bought a book from you on eBay that never went on Go Collect (Daredevil 1941)
