Saudi Arabia is interested in buying 100 KAAN fighter jets from Türkiye

Saudi Arabia is reportedly interested in acquiring more than 100 of the 5th generation KAAN fighter jets being developed by the Turkish Aerospace (TUSAS) aircraft manufacturer.

The potential acquisition was discussed during a recent visit by Saudi Air Force Commander Turki bin Bandar Al Saud to Turkiye.

Turki bin Bandar Al Saud along with his delegation met with officials from TUSAS, as well as from Roketsan and Aselsan companies.

The visit provided Saudi officials with detailed information about KAAN's capabilities and initiated discussions on potential strategic collaboration regarding the stealth jet.

Saudi Arabia's interest in the KAAN is in line with its goal of building a stronger defense partnership with Turkey.

However, this effort faces significant obstacles, especially the United States' reluctance to sell advanced Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.

In addition to KAAN, other options being considered by Saudi Arabia include the 4.5th generation Dassault Rafale fighter jet from France and the 5th generation Shenyang J-31 fighter jet from China.
