In 1960, Russia Downed a US RB-47 Over Barents Sea.

On July 1st, 1960, an RB-47 was over the Barents Sea. Onboard were six officers and a toy dog that one officer had for luck. Hours into the flight, a MiG-19 Farmer intercepted them and told the Americans to follow him. When the RB-47 didn't listen, the MiG-19 targeted the aircraft. The Russian pilot flew over the jet, firing on it, and shoots 111 rounds in total. The US plane crashes into the Barents Sea. The Russian pilot claimed that jet entered their airspace. Two crew members were rescued by a trawler in the sea. Both remained in Russia till January 1961.
