I still cant get over how upbeat you seem about Gen3. It's proved to be no more raceable, way more fragile and way more expensive overall - revealing itself to have major design flaws that need constant re-engineering.

Curious as to how much extra weight has been added to a bare chassis with modifications over the life of the current generation?

Sounds a bit like Grandpa's axe. Sure it's had a new head, two new handles and a new wedge, but it's grandpa's axe! If you replace everything forward of the rear roll hoop, is it really chassis 12, or is it a new chassis with 12's rear end grafted on? I imagine the difference is important for Super2 where no new builds are allowed at the moment. By calling it a "repair" to chassis 12 it still has main game pedigree and is therefore eligible for Super2 whereas a fresh new build won't be.

So a engineer designed a chrome moly chassis with basically 1.6mm exhaust tube wall thickness, so now there is torsional twist which will lead to tube fatigue. Some one needs to go back to engineering school or go and see how a Nascar chassis is built.

Thanks to aircraft grade chrome moly tubing which i had a great hand in it, when i visited perkins engineering in moorabbin and sprke to larry and russell ingall back in 1998/99 time period. Now they make it in all different angles and shapes to suit various car shapes, pre made, but because of gen rules they make it all to spck based on the gen 3 rules, no getting around it at all? 🦘🦘👌👌✌✌👍👍😎😎
