Inside Astoria NYC Food Carts & Restaurants (Greek, Halal, Egyptian Food Tour) | NYC 24 Hours Eating

We got to tour the inside of not one, but TWO food carts in Astoria! First time inside NYC’s food carts, trying cubic falafel, and eating a whole spread of Egyptian food. Plus, some authentic modern Greek food in a taverna. Astoria is a true example of a melting pot!

Laid-back Astoria is a multicultural Queens neighborhood known for a variety of traditional ethnic eateries, such as Greek tavernas, and trendy spots. Greek, Egyptian, Italian, Brazilian, and Irish communities call the neighborhood home, and this diversity is reflected in Astoria's offerings.

If you love seafood as well as Greek and Egyptian food, highly recommend Astoria Seafood and Abu Qir. At both restaurants, you get to pick your fish on ice up at the front, and they’ll make it to order - grilled, fried, steamed, whatever you want. They are two of our favorite places in the neighborhood! At Astoria seafood, highly recommend the grilled snapper, fried clams or fried calamari, Greek salad, and spanikopita. And at Abu Qir, highly recommend the grilled branzino, calamari tagine, fried shrimp, and baba ganoush.
