Nothing can beat without Jimmy McDonald. One of the many SFX guy at Disney for many decades along with Treg Brown at WB for their “Looney Tunes” and “Merrie Melodies” and Hanna-Barbera for tons of sound effects used for these cartoons.

17:01 Jimmy MacDonald doing Dopey's crying is definitely true, but the confusing part about MacDonald doing Dopey's squeaky hiccuping is that while it sounds similar to Dumbo's hiccuping (also done by MacDonald) when he gets drunk in Dumbo (1941), it also sounds slightly similar to the hiccups of Hortense the Ostrich (voiced by Pinto Colvig) in Donald's Ostrich (1937). There is a video of Adriana Caselotti (who voiced Snow White) giving a tour of her house in 1992. In it she mentions that Colvig did the hiccups. Either...
A. This might imply that MacDonald's hiccups weren't used in the final version of the film.
*B. She might just be misremembering and assumed that Colvig did the hiccups instead of MacDonald based on the fact that some of Colvig's characters like Goofy having a hiccup-like laugh.*
Keith Scott's book Cartoon Voices of the Golden Age, 1930-70 Volume 2 (2022) states that Colvig did Dopey's various vocal effects and MacDonald provided the character's miscellaneous noises.

All of the unforgettable sounds are the best to find out so much more about, with our deepest voice having Mickey Mouse. Stay safe everyone!

Jimmy MacDonald was a lean, mean sound designing machine. He shared a birthday with my grandfather which was May 19 as usual. God rest their souls. 😢

Thank you so much for uploading this! I remember Disney Family Album WAY back when The Disney Channel was still new (and still good) and this episode with Jimmy MacDonald is my favorite!

"A cartoon without sound is hardly a cartoon at all..." I would only wonder if Buddy Ebson (or the series/episode writer) has ever heard of silent films.

“My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” was the one show that mostly used Jimmy McDonald sound effects that it was borrowed from Disney, but they allowed permission to use most of Disney sound effects that Jimmy McDonald was used for MLP G4.
