As a DIY mechanic, I buy cheap cars and keep them a LONG time. One I bought for $1, 000 with 121K miles, now it has 245K miles 12 years later! This electric stuff sounds plain expensive!

Everyone seems to be forgetting one tiny, yet important detail. After the last two years and skyrocketing interest, who can afford a new electric car so suddenly? The bottom 80% will struggle to do this, assuming they even could with current, government timelines.

I work in the "recycle" industry. We have been having a lot of discussions about how to handle these batteries when they go bad, or what happens to them when there're involved in an accident.

The electrical grid could never handle the load of millions of EV's. Gas isn't going anywhere. We get blackouts when the neighbor 3 doors down turns on the T.V.

Because of the recent heat wave we have been experiencing here in Texas for the past few weeks, we were asked to reduce our home electrical consumption during the day. We were asked to defer running major appliances during the day, to avoid blackouts. Our power grid can barely keep-up with demand in hot weather, or in extremely cold weather. Just the facts.

Hey Scotty, Has any EV gone through a flood area yet? How do they hold up after being flooded? Will they short circuit, or blow a fuse? Or do they become a lawn ornament?

I'm glad I grew up and lived most of my life before all this madness.

Are we supposed to unplug someone else’s car if they take over an 1/2 hour?
My job has 5 charging stations and the same 5 cars are plugged in all day. Who is going to police this stuff in a Hotel? Have the cops get a forklift and pick someone’s else’s car up?
Even if the meter shuts itself off in a hour, they can still stay plugged in for the day.

I remember this - specifically 1974 when people had to wait in lines to get gasoline - hoping the pumps didn't run out before they got to the pumps.

Gasoline shouldn’t be opted out. It should always be a option until the end of time.

The neighbor was running an extension cord from his apartment to the parking lot which was about 20 yards to the car. He took my parking space to charge his car. 😂😂😂

I just watched a video where a new EV pick-up was towing a trailer and was only able to go 82 miles which took 3/4 of the batteries power before having to turn back to the nearest charging station, and that cost him $27.00 from 25% power remaining to 100%, and they think were going to bite on that Hook? Lol.

When you disagree with said government they will prevent you from charging your vehicle. Control is their outcome

As a mechanic of 20 years experience, I have bought a Tesla model Y, and I don't want my kids to become mechanics. Holy crap what a vehicle. Words can't describe it.

Today if I pull up to a gas station and there are a couple people ahead of me I just wait a few minutes then it’s my turn. No biggie. But when everything goes electric you better set aside half a day. At 45 minutes a charge with a couple people in front of you, you will have waisted half a day charging your vehicle. I’m sure your boss or customers will understand.

I’m actually quite surprised there are around 1/10th to 1/20th as many charging ports as fuel pumps. But obviously it’s not comparable because it only takes a minute or two to fill up with fuel as opposed to… yeah

My current vehicle is 15 years old, had it since new, gets 10 MPG on the interstate, needing refuel every 120 miles or so with its 20-gallon tank. Even with the current price of fuel, I still have no want to change. Thats just the way it is. Registration renewals is about $50 a year.

Taking a long time to charge just means you have a better chance to get robbed.
