Yes and no.

You must (MUST) tell your Tor browser to not run java script. Otherwise, you can be tracked.
This is easily accomplished by clicking on the shield icon, near the top right-hand side of the browser.

This video (link below) explains some of the numerous ways that you are tracked. Running Linux (not Windows), along with the Tor browser, goes a long way to maintaining a semblance of privacy -- but not if you leave java script enabled.

Know that turning off java script will deny you the proper workings of countless web sites, because they depend on you having java script enabled in order to function properly.

I followed these steps and installed tor. But how can I get tor to appear in my favorites menu? I can run the startup file from the terminal but I don't see tor in my list of applications.

Is it right to install "tor launcher" of flatpack version from software manager. Will that be genuine application we will be getting through that process.
