Chicago Police Officer Wounded In Traffic Stop Shooting

Investigator say a car being targeted for a traffic stop fired several shots at pursuing officers, striking one and leaving her in critical condition. WMAQ's Alex Maragos reports.

Our legislators need to pass laws stopping the police from using minor traffic stops to escalate into multiple charges. When a person is stopped for a bad tail light then he should leave the scene with a ticket for a mad tail light and nothing more.

If American citizens were confident that a minor traffic stopped would end in a ticket and not with them being dragged out their vehicle and beaten or shot to death in American citizens would not panic and feel like they have to fight to save their lives in a traffic stop.

So the highly trained police (who think they are the only individuals qualified to have firearms)--don't have enough common sense to avoid putting each other in a CROSSFIRE?! My belief is that if police stopped using traffic stops is excuse to escalate calls and makeup charges and put innocent people in jail and steal their property and impound their cars American citizens wouldn't panic and be in fear for their lives and property and feel that they must fight back ending in violence.

It's a shame these drivers probably new about the reputation of Chicago Police for brutality and violence against citizens. I'm sure it contributed to their panic.
