So for anyone reading the comments wondering why this video was no help, I will help instead: the way to stop recently downloaded pdfs from opening automatically is to open the Adobe Acrobat program, go to the menu in the upper left, then go to "Preferences". It will automatically open in "Page Display" located on the left. Click on "General" right above it, then uncheck "Open PDFs automatically in Reader when they are downloaded in Chrome browser". Once unchecked, click "Page Display" on the left, and hit "Okay" at the bottom to save the setting. Done.

The video does not answer the question how to turn off the feature to automatically open a downloaded file. Maybe rename the title.

So, for anyone here using Chrome, here's what worked for me:
- Click on browser settings (3 dots in top right-hand corner, at the bottom of the menu)
- Go to downloads section of the settings
- Delete anything that says "open certain type of file after downloading"
- Turn off "Show downloads when they're done"

what about the part about "Automatically opening"? Can you at least pin your fix or response?
