The rapid adoption of electric vehicles, while commendable for its environmental benefits, has introduced a new set of challenges. The unique chemistry of electric vehicle batteries can make fires more intense and more difficult to extinguish, especially in residential areas. As the number of electric vehicles on the road continues to rise, so too does the risk of these fires occurring in our communities. We must act now to ensure that our cities and towns are prepared to respond to these incidents. By supporting this initiative, we can urge electric vehicle manufacturers to develop safer battery technologies and encourage local governments to adopt stricter regulations to mitigate the risks associated with electric vehicle fires.

Brace yourselves, for those who lost their homes your insurance companies might not honor your fire insurance if you did not follow the Clearance Requirements as set by the State Fire Marshall for Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (Maps are available online for every California county). As for lands adjacent to your city or house that are under city and state jurisdiction, they needed to follow their Vegetation Management plans (recducing fuel load), which in this case they obviously did not. Maybe it was because of diverting taxpayer funds to other programs, whatever. And yes, you can blame the governor and mayor - but it doesn't matter much if you've lost everything you have worked your whole life for.
