"Another thing, of course, is life will have terrible blows, horrible blows, unfair blows. Doesn’t matter. And some people recover and others don’t. And there I think the attitude of Epictetus is the best. He thought that every mischance in life was an opportunity to behave well. Every mischance in life was an opportunity to learn something and your duty was not to be submerged in self-pity, but to utilize the terrible blow in a constructive fashion. That is a very good idea."

It isn't that we were so good at doing things that were difficult. We were good at avoiding things that were difficult and finding things that are easy.

1) he used to read a lot everyday - so he was smart
2) he was in finance investment business.
Buffet is quoted to have said "if u want to invest like me - read 500 pages per day".

"By avoiding things that are difficult, and getting into things that are easy."
Hustle culture, corporate culture, and 9 to 5 culture preach the opposite! Those are hard lives with little money. That's how they were programed in order to be good little robots to make other people, who know better, richer and happier.

One thing i learnt recently, to which Charlie corroborates is to proceed in life, take the path of least resistance. If you're in the right perspective, you will see it

I have known!, working in a company for more than 40 years, quite a lot of superiors who had no integrity, no intelligence, no experience and no true dedication to the work we did? Sure they loved doing as little as possible, and their paycheck, and playing boss as long as the good times were on us!, but I guess that's the way big companies are? They don't really care about lower ranking bosses!! I have often thought about Shakespeare, in these situations, " I have seen servants on horseback, and kings on foot !" what these two say, or give away, are truly pearls of wisdom, I followed Al my life, , don't spend more than you earn, and it's not overcoming difficulties's but trying to avoid them! Now there's something to live by 👍
