Ender 3 S1 USB-C Connection problem

When I connect a USB-C cable to my new Ender 3 S1, the screen goes black and shuts down. When I remove it, the printer reboots. This happens even if the Cable is not plugged into anything else

I had a similar issue with my S1, where I could take any Type C cord with nothing attached to it and the moment it was plugged in, the extruder stepper would just stop working. I think you and I discussed this on the Facebook page. Just got my replacement printer yesterday hopefully this is problem won't happen again.

The exact opposite happens to me, when I remove the USB the screen turns off, any ideas?

I have the same issue. And few days ago received new mainboard by garanty, and the same. No luck.

Dumb question but just ordered my first 3d printer, the Ender 3 S1. Do I have to have in connected to my PC in order to use it? I'd like to have it set up in a different room and would love if I could just do all the PC work on my PC, save it to an SD card and then put the SD card into the S1 to print.

I had the exact same problem with mine - it’s a hardware issue. Return the printer for a new one if possible - I did and I love having Octoprint run my S1

I had the same problem with my S1 by the way the 24v interface for the LED light went short after using port C
