Michael Schumacher's Gift to Sebastian Vettel in His Last Ever F1 Race

preview_player

One of the most dramatic races in the entire 70-year history of Formula 1.

Schumacher gifted Vettel an easy pass near the end of Interlagos, giving him the points he needed for a 3rd consecutive world championship, finishing ahead of rival Fernando Alonso.

Michael: "Who is behind me?"
Engineer: "Vettel behind you."
Michael: "Isn't he fighting Alonso for the title?"
Engineer: "Yes, yes he is."
*flashbacks to 2005 and 2006*

Schumacher was so elite that he had the facilities to be gifting championships to others

Think of how close they must have been for Michael to do that. Seb was down a ton of positions, and because he needed to get those points, Michael allowed him to pass to take the championship away from a Ferrari driver, the team Michael won 5 of his world championships with, a team that is pretty much required to acknowledge Michael whenever necessary, he gave the championship to his rival, because Seb was his friend and apprentice. Amazing. Simply lovely.

It's moments like these that stick with you for a lifetime. No wonder Seb grew up to be such a loveable guy and an inspiration to us all, when his own hero did something like this.

As sad as it was/is seeing Seb struggle at Ferrari and Aston I think you can’t deny he was blessed to have had an incredibly successful and entertaining career

Watching/listening to Mick speak brings back memories of watching Michael talk because not only do they look alike but they also sound alike and speak exactly the same way. Champion (Schumi) passing the torch to another champion (Seb.)

I used to hate Seb, but I lately I realized actually what a Person and driver he is and what I actually missed back then. Michael is the Goat but Seb is the one who is nearest to him

seb is and will always be my hero. but one of the things i regret in my life is that i never had the chance to witness seb's glory days in red bull. having no access to f1 on tv (third world problems lol), let alone having no knowledge about f1 at all until 2014, i felt so disappointed coz i felt like i missed a lot. i started being a fan on his last days on red bull, then coming to ferrari only to watch the shithoursery that fcked up team would entail upon him.
but i guess that's the beauty of it -- knowing seb beyond his championships, the off-track stories about him, his love and passion to the sport, being the student of the game that he is, his mentality -- these, and more, are the reasons why i love this legend.
he may not be the goat (senna), but for me, he's close to that.

What a champion michael was. For him it was never about records. It was about winning.

That is why Schumi is, and will ALWAYS be the greatest driver of all times. No one, NO ONE, will ever be greater than him.
