Feel like they need some big HP, damage, and speed buffs to justify training them since they need a fortress now instead of a barracks. Maybe bring them up to fanatic levels of health and Zeus hoplite speed? Hetairoi certainly seem to justify themselves. Makes me wonder how the gastropheteroi (or however you spell that) are doing

They should just be 2 Pop like Hoplites.
Gate that upgrade behind a tech if necessary, but the reason they underperform is because they don't have the ability to be easily massed like Academy units do, and they lack area damage or range like Hetairoi or Gastrophretai.
You simply just can't have enough of them to hit the snowball mass necessary to make them work properly.

So, on a purely by-feeling realization, why do Myrmidons feel extremely weaker in retold compared to the original? is it the attack speed?? the lack of multiplier making it easy to destroy lower armor enemy units? or is it just that a lot of other units are buffed in retold and Myrmidons got left behind?

Need some small buff for sure…..maybe his cost maybe attack speed or speed or hp…..his cost effectiveness is not so great and is hard to mass them now……maybe heras patronage make them recruit from academy and make them cheaper without buff them actually and not free units…..maybe 65 food and 45 gold something like that

on my end, going Hera is how I beat the last 2 campaign missions on titan: because the output of the cap of fortresses is INSANE and would take way mroe than one or two plenty vaults to match... and it gave me exactly what i needed: an ebdless source of cannon fodder to throw at things like polyphemus and the chimera death squads that melt any frontline in seconds (heroes after all cant be spammed as a greek). And hell, their divine damage even allowed me to beat the poseidon statue in the last mission without building a wonder (though with hydras and heroes tanking for the myrmidons)
