The guy ate cottage cheese and almonds for lunch and Tuna, Chicken, steak etc. for dinner. This doesn't apply the same to eating McDonald's chicken nuggets everyday.

He also ate clean (including fruits and veggies) and did a ton of cardio. I’m pretty sure he also had a very active lifestyle

What he failed to mention is the gradual progression in order to prevent getting fat. If you increase the calories too much too quickly the fat will happen significantly more than muscle. One must adapt to a certain number of calories as a maintenance before increasing again in order to stay lean when bulking. Patients must replace the ego in that philosophy.

I believe that he workout old school way like spend more time at the gym maybe twice a day and work a lot of sets and reps rather than 3-4 sets 10-12 reps like nowadays theory

his physique would be considered "off-season" nowadays. We took it to the extreme and now everyone's obsessed with being shredded....I just dont get it.

It depends: which level of surplus are we talking about ? 250 kcal ? 500 kcal ? 1000 kcal ?
Above 500 kcal I doubt anybody will stay lean.

steak, eggs, milk, fruit and veggies. it's pretty hard to do full body workouts, jog twice a week and only eat those foods and get fat. bodybuilders nowadays some how think you need 500 carbs of rice a day?

Maybe the mre correct thing to say is that steve reeves was allways eating same as he burned calories so he was getting muscles but still stay lean
