Mysteries of Ice King's Crown in 'Broke His Crown' (Adventure Time)

“Broke His Crown” revealed unprecedented information about the Ice Crown, both mechanistic and historical in nature. But with new lore come new mysteries, and an abundance of speculations to potentially explain these mysteries.

The Ice King saga becomes even more fascinating as Adventure Time continues to unfold.

Also, I like how this episode implies that Marcaline is the only one left on Ooo that is old enough to know about Santa clause, and how the steaks miniseries puts it, she has lived long enough to see time repeat itself, by similar Christmas-like traditions forming in Ooo after all this time, as seen in holly-jolly secrets. I also believe that marcaline is the last one with knowlage of Santa because even bubblegum, who has lived nearly as long, doesn't even know about him.

the crown collects parts of each wearers personalty or traits. santa desire to give gifts, svens knitting, simons desire to fined his princess and last but not least Gunter desire to be evergreen and also a evergreen that cares. So ice king is like a fusion of all those traits. sidenote ice drumming skills problemlly come for gunter.

I also noticed the irony between Betty's character. Similar to Simon, their headwear is slowly taking over their consciousness to the point that they become different people.
Betty is actually like the Ice King now that she is more magical, goofy and a lot more mysterious. Like the Ice King's fixation with princesses, due to him missing Betty; Betty is fixated in the Ice King just as she was missing Simon's absence in consciousness.
One can also state they're total opposites to each other now after being possessed by magic. Ice King being more absent minded and clumsy in contrasts to Betty's cleverness and attention to details.
We don't know Betty's profession yet to why she is capable with the technology and engineering machinery in Ooo. Hacking the crown and the use of Magic Man's machine.
I can also point out that another difference to Ice King and Magic Betty is that Betty is a loner compared to the Ice King who is swarmed with penguins and slowly getting warmed up to new friends. I can see conflict towards an issue such as this in a future episode. If they ever come to this idea, we can understand Betty a little more as she is slowly becoming her own mystery.

I feel that "Sven", being the blonde haired guy next to Santa is actually the guy who Simon originally got the crown from, I.E: "An old dock worker from northern scandinavian."

I interpreted the plants not as an indicator of the crown having an organic nature, and more its decay over time. Plants growing wildly and undermining the structure as a way to indicate that the original design is breaking down.

Also, another possibility for the 'people' in the crown is that instead of being copies or impressions, the crown itself operates partly outside time and space as we know it, thus the people are there because they are connected to the crown inside their own timespan.

Noting the Magic Betty backstory episode, the Ice Crown is definitely primarily magical, because once all the magic was taken out of it, Simon was returned to normal.

I just realized since Gunther (the dinosaur) wished to be an ice elemental everyone who wears the crown will be an ice elemental, if he wished for the destruction of the comet Simon would still be Simon
So technically it’s Gunther’s fault that Simon is the Ice King

4:11 My headcanon is that Santa liked giving gifts to his children, so when he wore the crown that desire was warped into an insane version of it. Imo, riding around on a reindeer-powered flying sleigh, only entering through chimneys, giving coal to naughty kids, all of that sounds like the type of eccentric things Ice King would do. And we know from Ice King and Ice Finn that the crown warps its user’s subconscious into an erratic version of it, where Simon started kidnapping princesses out of a subconscious desire to see his own “princess” again, and Finn started freezing every person he saw out of a desire to protect everyone

Betty's directive isn't to cure Simon it's to do it without killing him, we saw that when his magic was nullified he turned into himself again, but started dying because he could no longer support himself.

As well as ice powers, the crown makes the wearer grow white beard hair, blue skin and a long nose over time. Must be within the crown are remains of the mind of it's creator, Evergreen. That would explain why Ice King feels the need to have a companion and also calls him Gunther, after the little talking lizard. So in some way, the crown is Evergreens way of preserving himself after death
