This track was my first self tutorage. I listened to it hundreds times and played along and finally learned note-to-note. I think I chose the right one to start. Rest in peace Mr. Tyner.

Satin doll.. one of the first tunes you learn jazzing.. one of the hardest to sound good over. McCoy nails it in this. His resolves are just perfect. That Db to the C takes a good ear.. Rip McCoy you legend

Rest in peace, McCoy Tyner. Say hello to Trane, Elvin, and Jimmy.

This suits my taste best. The quality of his musical language is that comprehensible. May his soul rest in peace. Before very long I'll ring your door bell softly in the Celestial City.

I need a keyboard. You know when it sounds this good it aught to be easy but that's brilliantly performed music for you.

1990, On a early cold, but sunny Saturday morning, my Mother was singing the lyrics to this beautiful instrumental. I hated to ask because it would have been seen as I was interested. So I asked anyway, and she responded, singing softly..."My Satin Doll". Then I learned, we were listening to Duke Ellington's exquisite composition. The very next year I was with, ( at the time ), the Love of my life, visiting a friend of hers, and on the coffee table, on top of all of the other unimportant magazines, was the "Bluenote Album Cover Art" book. Thats when I discovered McCoy Tyner, and very soon after to purchase his beautiful rendition of Satin Doll.
She was certainly my Satin Doll. [ T.P ]
Rest in Heaven Mom.

Played w the correct and disciplined restraint needed for a great jazz piano trio . Everyone works as a team . No one tries to outdo anyone else. Perfection!!

This represents the true excellence of jazz. The issue is how to stop listening and go to bed. Thank you for sharing.

I’m doing the same thing now although; I’ve practicing this song for years. I finally decided the best version to develop my improvisational skills is this one.

Woaw the bass is out of tune. McCoy is still awesome. What a player.
