No doubt playing the same tunes over and over gets tedious, but guitar player extraordinaire Steve Lukather and bass player Hamish Stuart addressed that problem by swapping instruments during a performance by Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band at the Greek Theater on June 15. The song, Work To Do, was written by the Isley Brothers and originally released in 1972. The Average White Band, a Scottish funk band, had a hit with it in 1974. Here's Luke with Work to Do on Hamish's bass, and vice versa.

Luke on bass is rarely but he also played the bass on "Beat It" for Michael Jackson.

Thank you, what a great band that plays with such fun. It is not unusual for good bands to switch instruments, novelty is fun too.

There are some great old photographs from the 60’s of Bob Dylan and Keith Richards both in the studio playing Fender P Bass. 👍
