Greetings:
Happy Holidays and New Year to you and family. I appreciate your work and the struggle to speak in Engish. My maternal grandparents were German immigrants to New York City between WW1 & WW2. He made wurst for a major supplier of packaged meats. He met my grandmother while here. They both had family that needed help after the war so they sent numerous packages to Kassel and Marburg. I did not learn too much Deutsche to speak, but I had a German language class in middle school but was doing poorly in English, so I lost my German class.
I think you did a fine job on the radio. I notice that most German radios have identical displays and controls. My stepfather brought a fine Grundig console radio phonograph to my home. It was purchased at the time when stereo records were popular, but before FM stereo was available in Grundig equipment. I am a retired Hollywood television engineer and use YouTube channels to feed my need to diagnose faulty equipment. My first recap job is the simple hot chassis 5 tube radio I built in middle school shop almost 60 years ago. I bought all new caps and misc.other parts. Today I was assembling a dim bulb unit with a bypass switch for full power when ready. I am holding off on the variac since I am supposed to be clearing out my hoard of used parts, so my ex-wife doesn't have to do it herself later.
Have you noticed that backup battery banks fail due to poor quality MICRO USB connectors, not worn out Lithium cells?
Also I am sorry to hear that Germany is so afraid of Nuclear radiation that it has idled its existing power plants and is urging low grade coal instead. I am a fan of Molten Salt Reactors fuelled by Thorium hexaflouride (UF6). They are hampered by the regulators that only know about uranium light water reactors like are built in Germany. But, I must stop before I make an enemy of the fearful people that do not know they are no longer being green. I did notice all your neighbors roofs with Photo Voltaic solar panels. Auf vetershen(?).

I actually had this same model, I remember sitting listening to news n music, , the smell of the bakelite, the smell of the tubes warming up, the back panel with the holes cast a beautiful shadow on the wall, , the sound of the radio reception going in and out, I love these grundig tube radios, I would love to get my hands on the grundig 4055 3D klang

Nice. I have now Grundig 3043 W/3D at home. I'm trying to get this thing working too. I put the voltage on it today and there is only noise from the amplifier. Now I need to learn how to test the tubes. All components appear to be installed in the device. That's going to be very exciting. Thank you for your video!

Greeting Sir Purepepper ( Ladamurni?), I am from Indonesia and currently restoring a Grundig 3048w/3D which is quite similar with you are working with in the video. Mine has both side mounted speakers off. I am trying to find information for the replacement but could not find the specification information of the speakers, not mentioned on the Schematic from Radio Museum. How many ohm is the side mounted speaker? thank you and I like your video

Hi Leon, quick question. I’m new to tube radio restoration (basically everything I know is from watching your videos 😉)
I’m working on a Grundig 9068 that was in absolutely horrid condition. So far I was able to get, power and a strong FM signal however I only have sound coming from the 3 electrostatics and nothing from the 2 drivers (it’s a console unit). I know there could be a number of problems but is this a common symptom of anything? Just looking to be pointed towards what I should be considering to inspect next...
Thank you!!!

Good job! Thank you and accept greetings from Russia. I have several Sabas and Grundings of 50's in my restoration works. Dream to get some 3d models. Do you have David Icke on you tv screen behind you on last minutes of the video ? Best regards, Mike.
