This classic Volkswagen Beetle was on display at the VW Media drive event yesterday at The British Motor Museum - here are the details:

Colour and trim:
• Diamond Silver metallic with Blue velour upholstery
History:
• This vehicle was built in Emden, Germany, in December 1977; a full restoration was
completed in March 2006.
• Production ceased in Germany on 19th January 1978 – production continued in Mexico and
Brazil.
• Last ‘original’ Beetle came off the production line at Volkswagen de México in Puebla,
Mexico in July 2003.

The crazy thing about these low HP cars is that they don't feel that weak or slow when you drive them. You are so right, "what a gorgeous, gorgeous" car. I just wish the first thing that came to mind when I see a classic Beetle wasn't "Hitler-mobile...."

Why does a 1977 beetle have a FLAT windshield, when the last year of the flat windshield rolled off production lines in 1972? They resigned the front instrument cluster and gave it a dashboard to accommodate the "fresh air" system then added a rounded windshield.

In the day the VW panel gaps were considered good. Any modern car makes it look awfull
