After watching all of the videos. I feel like it was a driveshaft failure (u-joint) that fractured the bell housing, which in turn broke the pump. I think the clutch material was from the converter and totally unrelated.

you should put a drive shaft loop under the truck, if the drive shaft brakes again it should catch it and keep it from destroying the trans. or i think would, at least it couldn't hurt to put one in.

The front ujoint was the beginning of the end of the trans. When it let loose it caused a chain reaction inside the trans, Bell housing ect.
Keep up all of you good work 👍

Had the same issues with front trans pumps with these “no name” 4l80e convertor.

I know this is old, but my two cents anyhow: This is the effect, not the cause. If the pump had 'spun' the transmission (really impossible), then you'd see some tell tale signs:
1. the crescent section of the pump would be hammered or sheared off. Clearly from the pump in your hand, the gears and crescent are pristine.
2. if force from the pump were great enough to crack the engine block, then you'd have bent or sheared the pump to case bolts. That didn't happen, as i saw in the teardown video.
3. The hub of the torque converter would have sheared, twisted, or at least stripped off part of the flat lands on either side when it suddenly jammed up. No evidence of this in the teardown, either.

It was the ujoint that caused the break, and when the trans flopped around, it cracked the pump gears and the stator support on the pump. Just listen to the story the parts are telling you.

I would say pump broke and locked up so it was solid drive and broke everything in a domino effect .

I rebuilt my 4l80e with the same Converter you used and the same thing happened to my pump.. my pump gears and shaft both broke so now i’m kind of thinking the converters are to blame in both of our situations...

Just to let you know a torque converter can be installed wrong and this could be the case of just that but we will never know but maybe the converter fit to tight in the pump gear or wasn’t installed correctly which caused the pump gear to break and everything else was a domino effect.

Pump broke, the flat of the gear piece that didn't move pushed the torque off center then the shaft jammed in the trans. So the engine tried to spin that jammed shaft while it was sheared which broke the input shaft and the drive shaft broke for the same reason. It's all due to the pump gear.

That pump gear broke because your hotside welds werent pretty enough. If you would have just bought a $4000 turbo kit this wouldnt have happened. 😅

The pump cased the whole issue when the pump went and locked the truck was still moving forward at good enough speed to snap the joints on the shaft .

Me again but if you look at the gear when it turn the flat part of the gear went up out of the way and should let the torque converter turn. but if you look at the front yoke where the cap come out you see where the end of the clip damage the slot like it wasn't set in all the way. When i put u joints in i always hit each end with a socket to set the clips in.

it looks like your u-joint clip lock came out, clip flies out, cap flies out, severe vibration, drive shaft spins out bashes around breaks everything it hits whipping the back of transmision causing radical misalignment of transmission and thus sequence of broken parts working their way forward. i.e. you werent holding your mouth right when you installed the u-joint clip into the yoke.

The frt. pump is secondary, the driveshaft flopping around is the cause, if you shut off the engine while moving, nothing locks up, pump is standing still? Why did the frt. ujoint cup come out, looked like it was a new frt. yoke? Bad snap ring, is the snap ring designed with a square edge to face out? If the pump was the cause, would see massive internal pump damage, would have destroyed the flex plate or broke off the torque converter drive hub.

All the damage to the trans is up front, i would expect to see damage more in the rear drums sprags etc if it started there ..Heres my theory, that pump broke jammed up the converter at that kinda speed it twisted the trans until it broke and when it twisted the trans it sent the u-joint for a tail spin because with the twist in the trans it threw off the aliment of your driveshaft and then it hammered the shit out of the underneath of your truck. im no trans guy, but i would believe that when that converter is put in the pump it locks in and then turns them gears if that gear broke it locked the front of that trans up ... if that joint went first i would expect to see the rear tail shaft ripped out of that trans instead it went all the way up without breaking anything other then the pump and input shaft? i find that hard to believe . and the u-joint never snapped it beat its self out now thats one bad ass u-joint lol never say never? anything can happen i guess, i would love to know what a pro trans shop thoughts on it, for me i say pump its the only thing that makes sense for me anyways . it is what is it and its a good debate lol glad you got the new parts ordered i wanna see this hit the 10's also . give that new pump a blessing lol

That broke at the same time the bellhousing broke, ,,trans is offset to engine, , , , it started at the driveshaft
try grabbing the bellhousing (bolted to engine) and pulling side to side grabbing the tailshaft and pulling side to side have more leverage at tailshaft to break the bellhousing thing watching your data when it broke, ,,,shifted 1 2 3, ,no tcc dropped back to 2nd @80 mph, 5000 rpm, tcc engaged, wot that will smoke the tcc clutch, in TC, ,engaging at 5000rpm
