Old tanks pre and post WW2 have this smaller gun that aligned with the main guns. They shoot tracers to gauge the range and increase their main gun accuracy using smaller gun as guide. The rangefinder of this old t72 probably screwed and they have no spare parts for it, hence this setup.

It's called a counter-sniper mount. The merkava tanks use a similar configuration.

12.7 mm guns are a long ago obsolete and ineffective in anti-aircraft role. Still better use in this configuration.

The tank was captured, but had the Sosna U sight was damaged, so they installed this to make it usable.

I'm not sure how accurate this is though, especially at longer ranges.

Для перемоги, что угодно готовы назвать т72б3, даже если это будет БТР, они все равно назовут его т72б3, ПЕРЕМОГА же, и никого не смущает что у танка на видео нет дз, ,реликт" вообще нигде, хотя модификация т72б3 вся в дз, нет решёток на корме башни , ,реликт"
Это обычный т72Б обр 1985 года, во лбу башни дз, ,контакт-5" в форме треуголников и по бокам, ,контакт-1 " 🤡
