GREAT.. my brain is able to keep up all this explanation.... the basic concept is all about "carry".. like we did in high school if we add 8 + 6 is equal to 14.... then we will write as 10 + 4

Before I watch your video ..
To be honest I only solved this because of a lucky guess to begin with.
I just said ''Let's say that M is 1'' for no other reason other than it was the first number of the answer .. which meant that S had to be 9 ... which meant that O had to be 0 .. and then everything seemed to slot into place but (like sudoku) there was a lot of ''this number is either X or Y .. or even Z'' along the way .. and I did get that there was no 3 or 4.
I have got ALL my notes written out on a piece of paper in front of me !! but my answer is
O = 0 M = 1 Y = 2 E = 5 N = 6 D = 7 R = 8 S = 9
making the sum 9567 + 1085 = 10652
