"Why buy your loved ones a $50 Spongebob game for their WII where they have to take the disk out and place it inside the WII and plug it in their TV and who knows from what else from their when for $20 where you could get a Magical device where it plugs into they're TV, already has a game inside of it, and is a toy of Spongebob face"

That Scooby Doo plug 'n' play looks a bit like a weird cartoon themed butt plug. Maybe that's where the glow in the dark function really comes into it's own.

I still have that spongebob plug & play somewhere, it's gliched though on some games, where it displays random blocks of color everywhere. Anyway, thanks for showing us your collection, plug & plays are a weird niche of gaming that are often over looked, so it's nice to see them get some love

That man is playing Galaga. He thought we wouldn't notice, but we did.

These are better than the Tiger handheld games.

There was a version of the Spongebob Plug and Play that was basically the Minigame mode from Mario Party, with an Olympics theme. I remember it looking similar to the one you have, but I've NEVER seen another one ever since I lost mine ages ago.

I bought my first plug & play yesterday and I am already hooked!
They just look so cool and it's something unique, I am certainly going to collect them!

Just bought our first plug n play at a swap meet for a whopping $5.  Great controller with some really cool classic games.

i've been gathering these things for years, the fact that they have such a limited run really does rile up the collectors instinct. for the most part they will run happily off of 5v so a slight modification to use an old cellphone adapter or usb will save on batteries if you find one you use a lot.

Some of those Star Wars games look like adaptations of stages of the Atari "Return of the Jedi" arcade game.

Absolutely legitimate collecting. I loved seeing the various games unique to the consoles. Please do another one if you get new ones in! This was cool.

Mortal Kombat Plug n Play. I worked with Chris Burke, the one who actually coded that plug n play game. One of the development stories of that game is that he actually had to take pictures of some of the moves to use them as sprites since some of them were missing. Engineers back then were more hands on, they did everything to get the game done no excuses, not like now... I work on the game industry and ALWAYS find time to fix minor art stuff while still doing my code. You save a lot of time.

I think there's a lot of untapped potential in the Plug & Play idea. You can sell individual games to people who don't want to go to the trouble of buying an old console with controllers, cables, etc. and hunting down a cart. They do that with Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2, Pac-Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, and a few others as we can see here but why not, say, Final Fantasy? They could package the first few games into a unit or sell a FFVII unit or something like that. Or maybe GTA3? You could even include the first two PC games and the London thing. Or even something like Myst. Or Doom. Or an RPG like Mana or Gaia with a couple of save slots. There's so much money just being left on the table for no reason.

I had most of these as a young child, I didn't appreciate them at all but looking back now, I really miss the simple and addictive gameplay of these things. It really makes me think I might not even be a gamer today without these systems in the past.

I had that Spongebob one. I played that thing until it glitched out and stopped working.

I love that the Ms Pac Man p&p resembles the old lounge/cocktail table machines. That extra little bit of nostalgia as you prepare to indulge in nostalgia.
