I ordered Fox Racing Motion X boots because some reviewers suggested that they are a bit wider than the AlpineStars Tech 7. I received the Motion boots a couple of days ago, and I have made a decision to return them.
First of all, they are about as narrow as the Tech 7 - they only have a slightly more anatomically correct shape than the Tech 7, but both boots have the same inherent flaw - the forefoot is too short (it's probably due to the fact that Fox Racing allegedly contracted an Italian company to design the footbed of the Instinct, Motion and Comp lines of boots).
The quality is definitely inferior to the Tech 7: poorer materials, padding is distributed unevenly inside the boots. The left boot is tighter because it's about 2 mm narrower than the right one. It's even visible with a naked eye and is confirmed with measurements. All other boots that I have, including the Tech 7, feel exactly the same and have the same width. There are many minor flaws that would take a lot of space to describe.
Comfort: the inner hinge (it is placed low - right in front of medial malleolus) presses hard on the medial malleolus, and it's pretty painful. This is the main reason why I decided to return the boots.
Protection: these boots have thicker plastic at the lower portion of the boot (especially, around the heels) and thicker cuffs than the Tech 7 that feel flimsy. These boots definitely provide better protection than the Tech 7. this is the only pro of these boots.
Conclusion: these boots are not properly designed and tested and are overpriced. Definitely not worth $429. They are on the same level as the Forma Pilot boots, but the Forma ones are $300, and I would not pay more for the Motion.

Metal Shank in the Sole? Or am I gonna be sending these out 5 times a year to get the soles replaced?
